Lapis Necklace
A lapis lazzuli necklace is a versatile piece for any jewellery lover. The deep blue stones are becoming more rare as the major mine for these gems, located in Afghanistan, is nearing depletion.
When shopping for a lapis necklace, you'll notice that the gems are often gold speck or silver speck. This is the sprinkles of color you'll find in the stones. The deeper the blue, the higher the value of the gems in your lapis lazuli necklace.
In the marketplace, you'll most often find bead lapis lazuli necklaces. However, you'll also find fabulous gems in chunky bead designs, medallions and much, much more. Lapis pendant necklaces often feature a pendant with inlays of lapis, coral, turquoise and white mother of pearl.
You'll find lapis lazuli paired with a wide variety of gems in multi-stone lapis lazuli necklaces. Look for turquoise, coral, agate, pearls, rose quartz, just to name a few.
Lapis is a relatively soft gem, so it is important to learn how to care for your lapis necklace to keep it looking just as gorgeous as the day you bought it. Be sure to store your lapis lazuli jewelleries in fabric bags or wrapped in plastic to keep them from getting scratched.
Never use ultrasonic cleaners on your lapis necklace. Simply dip a soft cloth in lukewarm water and clean the gemstones. Avoid getting a beaded lapis necklace wet. It could weaken the cord holding the beads.
