Wear Turquoise for a Fresh, Cool, Calm Look
Email This Article To A Friend

Turquoise has an innate ability to display a dynamic quality of being, along with the illustration of quite an energized personality, along with the ability for projection, and to influence people.  When you wear turquoise, you give others the impression that you are organized, creative, and an excellent multi-tasker.  Wearing turquoise is an extremely ideal solution for people who are in positions of respect and authority, as well as people working in a team and people who wish to be a calming influence.

Many cultures believe that wearing turquoise brings about good fortune, success and prosperity to the wearer.  It is also considered by some to be an effective love charm, so that when turquoise is received as a gift, it is to represent a pledge of affection.  On that note, Russians commonly use turquoise within their wedding rings.

Even Shakespeare wrote of the powers of turquoise within “The Merchant of Venice,” in which Leah gives Shylock a turquoise ring while he was a bachelor, in the hopes of swaying his affections towards her, and having him propose to her.

Shakespeare’s play reminds us of the roots of the name of this unique stone.  The actual word “turquoise” is believed to come from the French phrase "Pierre turquoise", which translates to “Turkish stone,” since turquoise was first brought to Europe by way of the Venetian merchants who acquired it from an assortment of Turkish bazaars.

Relatively speaking, turquoise is a soft gemstone, being prone to easy scratches or breakings.  This is due to its porous quality, which also leads it to be easily discolored as a result of oils and different pigments.  Turquoise can even change its color if its own water content is lost.  Therefore, it is extremely important to take good care of your turquoise jewelry.  JEGEM.com features some of the rarest turquoises available, ranging from deep green spider web turquoises to golden dragon skin turquoises.
