The Fascinating Colors of Labradorite Compliment Any Occasion
Email This Article To A Friend

Labradorite is an incredibly enthralling and mesmerizing mineral that can enthrall and mesmerize all who see it when it is worked into a lovely piece of jewelry.  Labradorite is special, as it appears different, depending on the angle from which it is viewed.  From one direction it may not seem like much, while from another, it can appear that an entire universe of color and fantasy has been tucked away within its angles.

You can easily be fooled by a laboradorite stone.  At first it can seem like a plain, dull, dark stone with no unique or special qualities, until suddenly you notice a playful, colorful shimmer that glows on the surface!  The special cleavage of Labradorite allows light to dance, glint and play in all different planes and directions.  This is called “labradorescence.”  These colors are quite intense, ranging from vibrant blues and violets, to dramatic greens, yellows and oranges.  The rarest of Labradorite stones can even display all of these colors at the same time.

These colors are formed by the different inter-grown levels and angles within the crystal itself.  These formations are created by different chemical reactions that occur at extremely high temperatures.  When these angles and levels form, and light enters the crystal, it’s reflected and reflected all over the place, until it produces a stunning little ray for a special moment.  This is called a “shiller.”

For special occasions, Labradorite is a great stone to wear in bracelet, or in a pendant, as it looks a deep smoky gray at first, matching dark evening gowns, and then surprises spectators with its startling, appealing little shillers!  They can dress up any moment, make you feel and look special, and catch the eye of any onlooker.

Take advantage of the thrilling labradorescence of this stone, and make that special evening even better!
