Labradorite is a gem rich in sodium.  The colors of labradorite gems vary from the lightest whites to smoky gray and to the other side of the spectrum, a dark midnight black.  The colors and the variations in labradorite are very different due to the elements of rutile, magnetite, and ilmenite which all reflect light differently. 

The light that hits labradorite stone will emit a rainbow of colors as the various portions of the stone reflect light in different ways. If you have ever seen the rainbow colors in a small oil spill, you will recognize the colors in the labradorite stone.  There is a metallic look to labradorite which gives it a very unique look.

The lore of labradorite teaches that it will energize your body to get you through a hectic day while  allowing your body to perform better and with less fatigue.  Labradorite lore states that this stone helps you lose weight faster and will assist in getting a wonderful night's rest. 

Labradorite was historically worn as a good luck charm.  Labradorite was also worn often as a pin, brooch, or a bracelet and was used later in necklaces, earrings and anklets. When worn around the neck, it is believed that labradorite will bring you the best of luck in health and love.

Labradorite is considered a  stone of the winter months because it is very similar to an icicle in how it reflects light. The lore of labradorite is found in magic, ritual, and ceremonies.  Many believe labradorite is used to elevate your consciousness and to protect own aura, helping to keep it balanced, clear, fully protected, and full of energy.  Some believe labradorite is used to improve psychic abilities and to communicate with divine spirits.
